Kym is a driven community leader. Her interests and activism span both civic and political involvement. As a former staffer for MD State Senator, Paul Pinsky, she handled many constituent issues of importance. As a parent, she is also deeply committed to telling the positive and uplifting story of Prince Georges County Schools and their stellar students. As a business owner, she is keenly aware of the needs of Black business owners in the County and is a strong advocate for their support and empowerment.

Her commitment to her community led her to be involved with several organizations impacting the community. Kym serves as the Vice Chair for the Prince George’s Public Schools (PGCPS) Health and Biosciences Advisory Board and is a member of the PGCPS Career and Technical Education Advisory Board. Recognizing her experience as a caregiver and dedication to improving the lives of seniors, County Executive, Angela Alsobrooks, appointed Kym to serve on the Prince George’s County Advisory Committee on Aging.

She is a Charter Member of the National Harbor Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, a member of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), and Vice Chair of the Board for StepAfrika!  With a group of concerned neighbors, Kym co-founded Fair and Unbiased Appraisal Advocates (FUAA), an organization that champions equity for County residents in home appraisal and resale value.
